Local Veterans Take Honor Flight to Nation's Capital

Savannah Area WWII, Korean War Veterans Embark for Washington

Amelia Jones beamed Friday morning as she made her way onto the bus that would carry her to Washington, D.C.

The last of 22 veterans of World War II and the Korean War to board the vehicle, the 95-year-old couldn’t wait to embark on the day-long trip to the U.S. capital, a city she hadn’t visited in more than three decades.

Service Brewing Co. Launch Party

Service Brewing Company will be holding their Launch Party on July 24th at the American Legion Post 135 (1108 Bull St., Savannah, GA  31401) from 6:30pm through 10:00pm.

Three new craft brew beers will be served, along with food and DJ entertainment.  All procceds benefit Honor Flight Savannah and the 200 Club.

On May 16, 2014, I had the honor of being a guardian for two World War II, and one Korean War veteran on their trip to Washington D.C. with the Savannah Honor Flight. This organization raises money to bring veterans from World War II, Korean War, and other conflicts, who have serious medical conditions to Washington D.C., so they can see the monuments that our country has made in their honor.
